AFFORDABLE MEDICINES FOR THE MASSES

The mission of JAS was to reduce the healthcare budget of every citizen of India by providing quality generic medicines at affordable prices (Refer to Exhibit I for Mission, Vision, and Objectives of JAS). The first store was opened on November 25, 2008, at Amritsar, in the state of Punjab. The monitoring and control of JAS was done by the Bureau of Pharma Public Sector Undertakings of India (BPPI), a consortium of CPSEs . BPPI was registered as an independent society in 2010 under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. It functioned under the Department of Pharmaceuticals set up by the GoI. Quality testing of the medicines was done by BPPI at its NABL accredited laboratories to maintain quality, efficacy, and standards..
